In the rural areas of Cameroon there are about 15 optical doctors for the 15 Million people living there. Even a minor eye problem often cause complete blindness due to the lack of help.
In early 2018 Thomas Mandl documented the work of the organization: "Viens et Vois" (Translated: Come And See). It is an organization built up by two opticians from Switzerland in order to tackle the poor optical situation in Cameroon. Thomas got the opportunity to go with the opticians to very remote places to help people that have a hard time to get in contact with opticians. They also went to several places in the savanna to give help to people that are exposed to extreme sunlight everyday.
The children in the photo just received their first pair of sunglasses.
